Buck Moon Ritual: Harness the Full Moon’s Power for Gratitude, Strength & Abundance
This year’s July Full Moon is called Buck Moon, and it appears in the sky on the 10th of July. But there’s a chance that we will see that moon on the 9th and 11th as well. Let’s see how we can harness this power to manifest some good things into our lives, connect with nature, and feel the strength again. Now that we have said goodbye to June’s Strawberry Full Moon, we welcome the next one - the Buck Moon
🦌The Buck Moon: history, origin, and power.
Why it’s called the Buck Moon
The "Buck Moon" gets its name from Native American traditions, and according to the lore, the July Full Moon has different names depending on the different tribes. July is the time when male deer, known as bucks, begin to grow their antlers in full. These antlers represent power, maturity, and transformation. The moon during this time came to symbolize this energy of emergence and growth.
Where is its origin
The term comes from the early naming practices of various Indigenous tribes in North America who named each full moon based on seasonal shifts and natural phenomena. In some parts of the world, the Buck Moon is also called the Thunder Moon, symbolizing the summer storms and the changing weather of summer - this is where the courage comes from. Some may even call it the Hay Moon, symbolizing the time for hay harvest and the golden colors summer offers -that’s where the abundance comes from. And this time, the full moon may appear orange in the sky.
What energies does the Buck Moon symbolize?
The Buck Moon symbolizes strength, maturity, regeneration, and manifestation. It marks a time when energy is fertile and ripe for growth—physically, spiritually, and emotionally. This year, 2025, the Buck Moon is falling in Capricorn, and this can mean sorts of things. There's also a grounding and goal-oriented energy at play, perfect for setting clear intentions, gathering your strength, opening yourself up to abundance, and building solid foundations.
🌕 Why practice some of the Buck Moon rituals?
Benefits
Rituals help you connect with the moon's rhythm, amplify personal transformation, and create a sacred pause to reflect. They foster mindfulness, clarify your goals, and can deeply support emotional and spiritual well-being.
Getting out of the everyday routine
Even if you don’t believe it, there is something more to life than just a 9-5 job, and doing a ritual breaks the monotony of daily life. Ritual can reconnect you to the cycles that nature goes through, the change of the seasons. Maybe even reconnect you with your inner self. Maybe you feel like you don’t need it, but if you do, it's a powerful way to return to yourself.
And hey, maybe these rituals actually work (even for sceptical people)
Whether you're spiritual, mystical, or simply curious, rituals work through focused attention and intention. The mind is a powerful tool—when paired with symbolic action, even the most skeptical participants often experience unexpected clarity or emotional release.

🌼 Gratitude Ritual: "Harvest of the Heart"
Purpose: Cultivate a deep appreciation for your journey and connect with the rhythms of the natural world.
You’ll Need:
A small journal or piece of parchment
White candle (purity)
Rose quartz (love & heart energy)
A bowl of water (preferably moon, rain, or spring water)
Fresh flowers, herbs, or leaves
Steps:
Create a Sacred Space: Set up your altar outdoors or near a window. Arrange the flowers around your candle and bowl.
Light the Candle: As you do, say:
“I welcome the light of the Buck Moon. May it shine upon all I cherish.”Gratitude Meditation: Take the rose quartz, and hold it in front of your heart, and breathe deeply many times. Visualize moments of growth, self-love, joy, and resilience over the past month.
Write It Down: In your journal, list 5–10 things you're truly grateful for—no matter how big or small.
Water Blessing is essential: Dip your fingers softly in the water and sprinkle it over your heart, feel the water touch you, and say:
“With this water, I honor what has been and open to all that flows ahead.”Close the Ritual: Thank the moon, blow out the candle, and optionally bury the journal entry near a tree or flower to return your gratitude to the Earth.
🌾 Abundance Ritual: "Call in the Buck Moon"
Purpose: Manifest abundance in love, health, career, or spiritual energy.
You’ll Need:
Green candle (abundance & prosperity)
Cinnamon stick or basil leaf (wealth & success)
Moon-charged water (you can charge it before doing the ritual), or a small bowl of salt, or salt-water from the sea (it’s already charged)
A coin or crystal (like citrine or pyrite)
Paper & pen
Steps:
Prepare Your Space: Cleanse with incense, herbs, or sound. Place your green candle at the center of your altar.
Set the Intention: Write down what kind of abundance you wish to welcome (e.g., “abundance in creative energy” or “financial flow”).
Circle of Power: Place the coin or crystal on top of your paper, then encircle it with cinnamon or basil.
Light the Candle: As it burns, say:
“By light of moon and flame of fire, abundance flows and lifts me higher.”Charge the Token: Hold your coin or crystal and visualize your goal manifesting clearly and joyfully.
Seal the deal with Water or Salt: Dip your fingers softly in moon water or salt water, or touch salt, then rub your hands softly together and say:
“I plant the seed. The harvest will come.”Keep the Token: Carry the crystal or coin with you, or place it on your altar until your goal is realized.
🦌 Courage Ritual: "Antlers of Strength"
Purpose: Embolden your spirit, clear fears, and activate inner resilience.
You’ll Need:
Red candle (for strength and courage)
Some kind of symbol of antlers (like a picture, photo, necklace, branch, etc.)
Black tourmaline or tiger’s eye (protection and grounding)
A mirror
Optional: thunderstorm audio or nature sounds
Steps:
Center Yourself: Sit quietly with nature sounds in the background, listen to these sounds carefully, and be in the moment. Hold your chosen stone and breathe deeply.
Light the Red Candle and say aloud: “As the buck grows bold, I rise. I meet life with steady eyes.”
Mirror Work: Look into the mirror and speak three truths about your strength (e.g., “I have survived difficult times. I am learning to trust myself. I am not afraid to be seen.”)
Connect with the Buck: Hold your antler symbol. Say:
“I call on the spirit of the buck—silent, swift, powerful. May I carry the same courage you have in my heart?”Empower the Stone: Pass the crystal through the flame (safely) and hold it to your solar plexus. Visualize a beautiful, strong, glowing golden light expanding from inside you.
Affirm: Close your ritual by saying:
“The moon watches over me. I am brave. I am whole. I am ready.”

🕯️The Buck Moon Ritual - more than just candles and words
Power of thought
When we pause and create intention under the light of the full moon, we tap into the raw energy of our own awareness. Every ritual is a doorway to deeper self-awareness and healing. Your thoughts have so much more power than you can imagine.
Power of intention
Intention is the soul’s compass. During the Buck Moon ritual, your focused thoughts, words, and symbolic actions may help you harness the power of your own thoughts and the full moon. This may help you steer your life in a new, empowered direction. The ritual itself becomes a sacred commitment—not to the moon, but to your future self.
🌕 Embrace the Buck Moon’s Magic Within You
As the Buck Moon rises in its luminous glory, it calls us to remember our innate strength, the abundance that surrounds us, and the courage that lies within. Whether you’re setting intentions, giving thanks, or channeling bold new energy, these rituals are more than symbolic gestures—they’re acts of self-alignment with the natural world’s rhythm.
Let this full moon be your guide, your witness, and your companion as you continue your journey of personal growth and spiritual empowerment. The path forward may be wild like the buck, but it’s also deeply rooted in your wisdom. 🌿🦌
May this Buck Moon guide you to grow tall like the antlered deer, walk strong through your seasons, and harvest the strength, love, and wisdom already blooming within you.
